The Gender Studies Club of Slippery Rock University is excited to announce that we are now accepting submissions for the third volume of Portmanteau!
My name is Cierra Naglowsky, and I am the Editor-in-Chief of Portmanteau this year, a Gender Studies academic journal that is highly competitive and peer reviewed. The word “portmanteau” itself means the combined meanings and sounds of words to form a new word. This academic journal is a collection of prose, research essays, and art that focuses on issues of gender, diversity, and intersectionality. Our first two volumes were published exclusively online, but we plan to print limited copies of the third edition (forthcoming) as well.
These works tend to be between 3 -15 pages, and this year’s journal is May 15, 2020, though we encourage you to keep this on your radar, and thus students’ radar, to submit throughout both the fall and spring semesters. If you have written a piece or have a student who has written something that you feel is potentially publishable, please consider submitting. The editorial board will make final decisions by June 15, 2020.
I am reaching out to faculty and staff for the purpose of soliciting papers for our upcoming third edition, which will be published in Summer 2020. The journal is thriving because of support from individuals like you. Please present this in your classes, and if you feel that there is a paper, piece of artwork, or research paper that merits consideration by our editorial board, please submit it to Portmanteau. All submissions can be sent to portmanteausru@gmail.com.
